Mireille Kovac
Mireille Kovac was introduced to the violin by her parents, both violin teachers, and followed her father’s – Rollo Kovac – lessons, as well as Matis Vaitsner’s advices, until entering Conservatoire de Versailles with Igor Volochine. Pursuing her studies at Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles in Shirly Laub’s class, she also benefited from the Erasmus program in Hannover under Oliver Kipp’s guidance. After the violin curriculum she followed a chamber music degree with her colleagues from the Trio Calligramme.
During masterclasses she received teaching from musicians such as Matthew Trusler, Alan Brind, Aki Saulière, Diotima Quartet or Hyperion Trio.
Since long passionate about orchestra playing, Mireille participated in various youth orchestras.
The European Union youth Orchestra, conducted by Bernard Haitink, Gianandrea Noseda, Vassily Petrenko…, and the Nederlands Jeugd Orkest contributed widely to her development, alongside leading the Young Belgian Strings for five years.
She played regularly with Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and the Belgian National Orchestra before joining the Brussels Philharmonic in 2021.
